So I have been spending a lot of time with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, and honestly, it feels like the series is finally back to what made it great. This is a first person shooter, which is my go to genre of the game when I want something fast and intense. Infinity Ward is behind it, and you can tell they put a ton of work into the gunplay and movement. The game is available on pc through Steam and Battle.net, and on consoles like PlayStation and Xbox. I played it mostly on my android phone via cloud streaming, which worked surprisingly well, but the native experience is on pc and console. It first launched back in 2019, and while it is not a pure mobile game, you can find related app versions and companion tools on Google Play Store and App Store. The install count for the main game is in the millions across all platforms. It is not free to download and play, you have to buy it, usually around sixty dollars for the standard edition. There are in game purchases for cosmetic bundles and a battle pass, but no forced ads, which I appreciate.

Playing this game is all about the flow of combat. You move through tight maps, use cover, and rely on your reflexes and map knowledge. The best part for me is the gun feel. Every weapon has weight and personality, and the sound design makes each firefight feel like a movie scene. My favorite part of playing this game is the campaign, which has these intense, memorable missions that actually make you think about the cost of war. Multiplayer is chaotic fun too, especially with friends in Search and Destroy. You can download the game, install it, and jump into a match within minutes, which is great for someone like me who does not want to wait around.

Compared to similar games like Battlefield or Rainbow Six Siege, this one hits a different note. Battlefield is more about large scale chaos, and Siege is slower and more tactical. Modern Warfare 4 sits right in the middle with fast, grounded action and a strong story. I recommend it over those because it is easier to pick up and play casually, yet it still rewards skill. If you are tired of overly complicated shooters, this one feels refreshing. It is not perfect, but as a real user of this app and game, I keep coming back because the core loop is just that satisfying.

Features

  • Gunplay that feels real 🎯 - Every weapon has distinct recoil and sound, so shooting feels weighty and satisfying compared to the floaty guns in games like Apex Legends.
  • Campaign with actual stakes 💥 - The story missions are tense and well acted, which is something Battlefield campaigns often miss.
  • Cross platform play 🌍 - You can team up with friends on pc, xbox, or playstation without hassle, which makes finding a lobby fast and easy.

Pros

  • Movement and pacing ⚡ - The sprint and slide mechanics feel smooth, and matches move quickly, which keeps me engaged far more than the slower pace of Rainbow Six Siege.
  • Audio design 🎧 - Footsteps and gunshots are clear and directional, so you can actually hear enemies coming, something Battlefield sometimes muddles in big fights.
  • Weapon progression 🔫 - Unlocking attachments feels rewarding without being too grindy, and it gives you a reason to try different loadouts.

Cons

  • Campaign length 📉 - The story is great but short, and compared to the longer campaigns in older Call of Duty titles, it left me wanting more.
  • Large file size 💾 - This app and game takes up a huge amount of storage, which is a pain on consoles and especially if you try to install it on a smaller device.
  • Skill based matchmaking 😤 - Sometimes matches feel sweaty and repetitive, and games like Battlefield give you more room to breathe and mess around.
