So I stumbled onto Blacksmith: Song of Two Kings a while back, and honestly, it caught me off guard in a good way. This one is a simulation RPG with a strong crafting focus, and it is not your typical tap-to-forge mobile cash grab. It is a pure single player experience, and as far as I know it is built for mobile first, so you won't find it on Steam, Xbox, or Switch. The game first launched back around 2019, and you can grab it on the Google Play Store and the App Store. It has somewhere in the ballpark of one to five million installs on android alone, which tells you people keep coming back to it. The download is free, and it does include in game purchases, but they are mostly for speeding things up or grabbing some extra resources. You can easily sink a few bucks in if you are impatient, usually a couple of dollars for small bundles up to maybe ten or fifteen for bigger packs, but nothing forces you to pay.
Playing it is pretty straightforward once you get going. You run a smithy, craft weapons and armor, fulfill orders, and gradually build up your reputation while a story about two rival kings unfolds around you. The loop is simple: gather materials, craft, sell, upgrade your shop, repeat. What I love most is how relaxed the whole thing feels. There is no timer screaming at you, no energy meter blocking you every five minutes, and no forced ads popping up mid swing. I can play for ten minutes on a break or lose an hour just optimizing my crafting queues. The best part for me is the crafting system itself, because the quality of your gear actually depends on choosing the right materials and timing your strikes, so it feels like you are doing something rather than just watching numbers go up.
Compared to stuff like Crafting and Building or even Shop Titans, Blacksmith: Song of Two Kings feels way more focused and less pushy with monetization. Shop Titans throws a ton of premium stuff at you, and games like that often feel like a second job. This one keeps things chill and story driven. If you want a crafting game on your phone that respects your time and doesn't nag you to spend, this is an easy recommend. Just grab it, install it, and see for yourself.
Features
- Real crafting depth โ๏ธ You pick materials and time your hammer strikes, and those choices directly affect the stats and quality of what you make, so every item feels earned.
- Zero forced ads ๐ซ Unlike many free android titles on google play, there are no annoying pop ups interrupting your forge sessions, which makes the whole download and install experience feel clean and premium.
- Story that actually moves ๐ The tale of two kings unfolds as you progress, and it gives your smithy work a purpose beyond just grinding for coins, which is more than I can say for most idle crafting games.
Pros
- Respects your time โณ There is no energy system locking you out, so you can play as long as you want, which is a huge relief compared to the stamina walls in Shop Titans.
- Fair monetization ๐ฐ The in game purchases are optional and never shoved in your face, unlike Crafting and Building which pushes ads and bundles constantly.
- Cozy but engaging loop ๐จ The mix of crafting, upgrading, and light story keeps me coming back without stressing me out, and it fills a nice niche that few mobile simulation RPGs manage.
Cons
- Grind creeps in ๐ข Later stages get repetitive, and gathering materials slows to a crawl, which can feel worse than the snappier pacing in similar titles.
- Limited visual variety ๐จ The art is charming but the scenery and character models barely change, so it can feel stale next to more polished games in the genre.
- Story pacing stumbles ๐ The narrative hooks you early but the two kings plot drags in the middle, and I found myself skipping dialogue just to get back to forging.
