Enshrouded is a survival action RPG set in a vast open world covered by a deadly fog. If you are looking for a new survival game to sink your teeth into, this one is worth your time. It is developed by Keen Games GmbH and first launched in Early Access on Steam for PC in January 2024. The game is not a pure mobile title, so you will not find it on the Google Play Store or the App Store, and there is no Android version at the moment. You also will not find it on Xbox or Switch right now, though the developers have hinted at console versions later. On PC, you can buy it on Steam for around $29.99. There are no in-app ads or microtransactions, which is a relief. You pay once and get the full experience. The install size is pretty big, so make sure you have space on your drive before you download it.

Playing Enshrouded is all about exploration and base building. You start by creating your character and then you are thrown into a world where a mysterious fog called the Shroud has taken over. You need to survive by gathering resources, crafting gear, and building shelters. The best part for me is the building system. It is incredibly flexible and lets you create some really detailed structures. I spent hours just designing my base and adding little touches like windows and balconies. Combat is fun too, with a mix of melee, ranged, and magic. You can play solo or with up to 16 players online. My favorite part is gliding across the map. Unlocking the glider changes everything because you can traverse the world so much faster and reach places you could not before. The sense of progression is strong, and every new area feels like a real adventure.

Compared to similar games like Valheim or Palworld, Enshrouded stands out because of its handcrafted world and the sheer freedom in building. Valheim has a great atmosphere, but its building is more restrictive. Palworld is fun with its creatures, but Enshrouded feels more focused on exploration and survival in a rich, detailed environment. I recommend this game because it respects your time and offers a polished experience even in Early Access. The world is dense with secrets, and the combat feels weighty. If you enjoy survival games with a strong building element, this is a no-brainer. Just remember it is PC only for now, so you will need Steam to download and install it. It is not on Google Play or Android, so do not waste time searching there.

Cons

PC only for now 🖥️ - You cannot play on Android or consoles yet, so if you only game on mobile, you are out of luck. This is a big drawback compared to cross-platform games like Palworld.
Performance issues 🐌 - In some areas, the frame rate drops, especially in dense fog. It is not game-breaking, but it can be annoying during fights.
