So I have been grinding Mafia City RP: Grand Open World for a few weeks now, and honestly, it is one of those games that just eats your free time if you are not careful. Mafia City RP: Grand Open World is an open world crime RPG, basically a sandbox where you build your own criminal empire from the ground up. It is a mobile game first and foremost, built for android phones and tablets, and you can grab it on the Google Play Store. The download is free, and it is not a massive file either, so installing it takes just a couple of minutes even on older devices. I did not see a Steam or Switch version, so if you want to play this one, you are sticking to your phone. As for in app purchases, yeah, they are there. You can buy currency packs and starter bundles, and they range from a couple of bucks up to around twenty dollars if you want the bigger packs. There are ads too, but they are mostly optional, like you can watch one to get a small reward. It first launched a while back, and it has pulled in a decent number of installs, enough that you always find other players running around the city doing their own thing.

Playing Mafia City RP: Grand Open World is pretty simple once you get past the first hour. You start as a nobody, do small jobs, earn cash, and slowly move up the ladder. The map is genuinely open, so you can drive around, walk into buildings, and interact with other players and NPCs. The best part for me is the freedom. Nobody is forcing you down one path. You can be a quiet businessman who runs legitimate fronts, or you can go full chaos mode and start turf wars. My favorite thing to do is just cruise around the city at night, listen to the ambient sounds, and see what random events pop up. It feels alive in a way that a lot of mobile crime games do not. You can also join crews, and that adds a whole social layer. Teaming up with strangers to take down a rival gang is genuinely fun, even when it goes sideways.

Compared to similar games like Grand Criminal Online or Vegas Crime Simulator, Mafia City RP: Grand Open World feels less stiff. Those other games are fine, but they often lock you into missions that feel like chores. Here, I can ignore the main story for a day and just mess around with friends, and I do not feel punished for it. I have played a lot of these open world android games, and most of them are either too greedy with ads or too clunky to control. This one is smoother, and the touch controls are actually usable without a controller. I recommend it if you want a crime sandbox that respects your time a bit more and lets you breathe. It is not perfect, but for a free download, it has kept me coming back way longer than I expected.

  • Does not force the story on you 🕊️ You can ignore missions and still have fun, which is a big deal when a lot of open world android games shove cutscenes down your throat every five minutes.
  • Active player base 🌆 There are usually people online, so crews and turf wars actually happen, not like some ghost town crime games where you never see another soul.
  • Regular small updates 🔧 The devs seem to patch things and add little events now and then, which keeps the game from feeling abandoned after you install it.

Cons

  • In app purchases can speed things up 💳 You can grind for everything, but paying players definitely climb faster, and that gap shows up in crew battles.
  • Repetitive side jobs 🔁 After a while, the small missions start to feel copy pasted, and Grand Criminal Online at least varies the objectives a bit more.
  • Bugs after big updates 🐛 Nothing game breaking for me so far, but I have seen cars clip through the road and missions not register, which is annoying when you are mid heist.
  • Battery drain 📱 This one heats up my phone fast, so long sessions mean you better have a charger nearby, especially if you are playing on an older android device.
